East Tennessee Historical Society, 601 South Gay Street
This February the History Department will revive a long tradition of service to East Tennessee high school history teachers, the 33rd annual workshop for area teachers of social studies. This half-day program offers lectures on historical topics of special interest to teachers. This year’s workshop inaugurates a new partnership with the East Tennessee Historical Society, which has a strong tradition of its own in education outreach to teachers. Each talk is based on the current research of a professor, followed by a keynote address from Dr. Patrick Allitt of Emory University. The event showcases some of the many talented and award-winning professors in our department and provides a chance for high school and university teachers to share ideas about how to improve the teaching of history. For more information, see the attached brochure, or contact Mary Beckley in the department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
