Beyond the Classroom

History students aren’t constrained by the classroom.

They think bigger.

Some put their skills into practice with a public history internship at places like the East Tennessee Historical Society or the Center for Tennesseans and War

Others study abroad: our students have gone to France, Cuba, OTHER PLACES.

Some advanced students serve as research assistants to faculty.

Our faculty are always thinking outside the classroom, too.  We host public lectures and talk to students in local high schools.  We manage editing projects like the Papers of Andrew Jackson and appear as guests on podcasts. Our goal is to connect with the Knoxville community–and the world beyond.
