Memory and Honor: Knoxville’s Veterans Legacy Project

Join us on Nov. 3 (Sat.), starting at 10am at the East Tennessee Historical Society for an event funded by the Veterans Legacy Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In partnership with the ETHS, Univ. of Tennessee History Department, the UT Center for the Study of War and Society, the Knoxville History Project, and Knox Co. schools, this event in advance of Veterans Day will feature four historians discussing themes related to local history and commemoration, especially with regard to Knoxville National Cemetery. Their brief talks will discuss commemoration and graves both worldwide and in the United States, in Civil War history, and in relation to the centenary of World War I. Following the talks, we will premier a short documentary on the Veterans Legacy Program in Knoxville. Weather permitting, the program will conclude with a historic walking tour of Knoxville National Cemetery.

The flagship campus of the University of Tennessee System and partner in the Tennessee Transfer Pathway.
