John Jones

John Jones is a first-year PhD student studying early medieval Europe under Matthew Gillis. His research centers on inter-religious contact and the expansion of Christian identity in Merovingian Gaul and the Late Antique West. John is particularly interested in the Gallo-Roman episcopate, the creation and maintaining of ethnic and religious identity in Late Antiquity, and how religious and economic leaders legitimized their authority in the early Medieval world.
