Are you interested in acquiring the advanced training and specialization that can turn your passion for historical study into a career? Our highly selective M.A. and Ph.D. programs are built to prepare you for a multitude of careers in teaching, scholarship, public outreach, advocacy, and more.

Our department’s core strengths in graduate training lie in premodern history, modern Europe, and American history, and the award-winning faculty in each field closely mentor their graduate advisees.

We offer competitive funding packages to our top applicants, which cover the cost of tuition, fees, and insurance, while paying a stipend to live on.

Interested in applying? We admit students once a year, with applications due in December for a start date the following August.

To learn the detailed requirements of our graduate programs, please consult the Graduate Handbook.
