Emily Brandel

Academic Advisor

I am from Cleveland, TN. My childhood dream was to become a Tennessee Volunteer, which eventually led my mother and I to move to Knoxville to finish out high school. My dream came true, and I ended up completing a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in VolsTeach at UTK. I went on to teach math for 7 years in two Knox County high schools. During my time teaching, I also received a M.M. in Mathematics online with UTK. I found over time that my passion is to work with students and help them succeed and thus, my childhood dream continues now as an advisor at the University of Tennessee… Being a Vol for Life is a real thing! Even though my background is in math, I have many interests and hobbies. I love nerdy things like Star Wars, Marvel, Anime, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc. I enjoy spending my free-time hiking, working out, crocheting, making things with my cricut, taking photos in nature, and running (just ran two half marathons recently). I love sports – you can catch me at all the football games for sure! Go Vols!
