Jane Chang
Doctoral Candidate
Jane Chang is a fourth-year graduate student in the Department of History specializing in Modern European History with a focus on the history of science and environmental history. She received her bachelors in biology and history (magna cum laude) from Emory University. Chang is working on her MA in American Studies from the University of Regensburg in Germany. Because of her deep roots stemming from the natural sciences, Chang is interested in the role of German foresters in British India during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, particularly on the intersection between the local Indians’ and German scientists’ knowledge of forestry. With her passion for the environment and history, she hopes to create works that will have further ramifications regarding environmentalism both inside and outside academia.
