Sara Daiane José is a second-year Ph.D. student studying Late Antiquity and Syriac Christianity under the guidance of Dr. Christine Shepardson. She has also pursued specialized training through Summer Courses in Syriac Language at the Beth Mardutho and UTK Marco Institute, as well as in Syriac Christianity at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
José received her bachelor’s degree with a teaching credential (Licenciatura) in History in Brazil and has over ten years of teaching experience in the Education Department of the Brazilian Federal District. There, she also held different roles, including working in the Office of Educational Assessment, which oversees policies and practices related to student evaluation across the public school system. Therefore, she aims to integrate her professional background in education with her doctoral research to contribute to both historical scholarship and pedagogical practice.
José serves as vice-coordinator of the Study Group on the History of the Christian East (Grupo de Estudos de História do Oriente Cristão-GEHOC) and a member of the editorial board of the Brazilian academic journal dedicated to Eastern Christianity, “Oriente Cristão.”
