Everett King

Graduate Student

Everett King is a PhD student specializing in Modern European History under Dr. Monica Black. His research focus is modern Germany,  specifically the intersection between culture and politics in East Germany. His master’s thesis studied the interactions and relationships between the Stasi secret police and authors/artists in the East German cultural sphere during and shortly after the Cold War.

Education

Prior to the University of Tennessee, Everett earned two master’s degrees in History and German Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2021, and a bachelor’s degree in History from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 2018. He has also studied at the University of Salzburg and Leuphana University located in Austria and Germany, and served as adjunct faculty in the Department of World Languages at Bowling Green.
